ROCKSCHOOL GRADES
Grades can be taken in guitar, bass, drums and vocals. Rockschool aims to put performance at the heart of the exam. Each grade has a wide choice of repertoire that covers all the key skills required at that level. Their tunes are written to reflect popular rock styles and inspire improvisation.

Rockschool's qualifications are offered at all grades. They're also accredited and have respective QCF credit values. (Did you know any grade from grade 6 upwards carries UCAS points which could be the push you need to get into your university of choice).

RGT GRADES
RGT exams start at beginner level and progress to professional Diplomas. The exams are organised in partnership with London College of Music Exams (one of the world's most respected music examination boards, established since 1887) and certificated by Thames Valley University.

From Grade One onwards RGT exams are accredited by the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) and UCAS points are awarded for Grade 6 and above.

Exam Levels
Nine exam grades are available, ranging from Preliminary Grade (for beginners) up to Grade 8 (for aspiring professional musicians). A range of Electric Guitar Teaching Diplomas and Electric Guitar Performance Diplomas are also available.

The exams are designed to develop the skills an electric guitarist needs to play in a rock band or pop group. Topics covered in the grade exams include: scales, improvisation and lead playing; chords and rhythm playing; specialist techniques; popular music theory and aural abilities. There is no requirement to read traditionally notated music.

Benefits of Taking an RGT Exam
* Gain a useful and internationally recognised qualification.
* Find out, via a reliable and independent assessment, what standard your playing is.
* Achieve your playing potential by setting yourself a clear target to aspire to.
Preparing for the exam will help you develop all aspects of your playing in a structured way, increase your knowledge of guitar techniques and music theory.
